Invitation states general plan: “care for the child”
Dear Colleague,
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, numerous partners involved in "Care for the Child and young persons" including patients and parents, nurses, and doctors joined forces after a fruitful collaboration through the Paediatric Covid-19 Paediatric Task-Force.
Together, we not only identified concerns but also devised potential solutions to give children a voice in healthcare, a voice they currently lack.
The Belgian Academy of Paediatrics, along with its many partners, cordially invites you to the presentation of an ambitious project for the future! The Plan: "Care for the Child".
Program:
08:30: Welcome/Coffee (via Carnot entrance)
09:30: Presentation of the plan: "Care for the child" (Okapi room)
09:30-09:40: Welcome Prof. Dr. Ann De Guchtenaere, President BAoP
09:40-10:20: Unheard Voices Voice of the children and parents
10:20-11:00: Presentation of the Plan "Care for the child" by different stakeholders
11:00-11:20: The 10 policy recommendations
11:20-11:30: Signature of the recommendations by the stakeholders.
11:35: Interaction Stakeholders/Pressmoment/snacks and drinks (Gorillaroom)

Ouverture du remboursement logopédique
Chers collègues,
Comme vous le savez peut-être, la nomenclature belge n'autorise pas le remboursement de la logopédie chez les enfants ayant un QI <86. Cette condition exclut malheureusement la plupart de nos patients porteurs de trisomie 21 et réduit donc leurs chances d'accéder à un meilleur développement du langage oral. Ils ne peuvent pas tous bénéficier d'une prise en charge logopédique individuelle adéquate dans leur milieu scolaire, et nombre de famille ne peut faire le sacrifice financier que représente cette prise en charge.
La question de ce remboursement sera présenté à nouveau à nos politiques la semaine prochaine. Les associations de familles ont lancé une pétition pour donner plus de force à leur demande.
Ce mardi 6 février, en commission fédérale de la santé, la députée Catherine Fonck (Les Engagés) a proposé d'introduire un amendement dans un projet de loi portant des dispositions diverses en matière de santé. Cet amendement propose de supprimer la limitation de QI pour que tous les enfants puissent bénéficier d'un remboursement de la logopédie. Sans surprise, le ministre de la Santé, Franck Vandenbroucke, s'y est opposé en appelant les députés à ne pas voter cet amendement. Message qui semble malheureusement avoir été entendu par les députés de la majorité : Ecolo-Groen, PS, MR, OpenVld, CD&V, Vooruit. Ce texte, avec la proposition d'amendement, repassera cependant en commission le jeudi 22 février 2024.
Dans ce cadre, et en tant que responsable d'une consultation multidisciplinaire de suivi d'enfants trisomiques, je vous invite à vous joindre à leur combat en signant la pétition jointe initiée par l'association « Inclusion - Down » www.inclusion-asbl.be, avant le 18 février !
